Dallas Solar
Permit Design.
Oncor Territory.
Building Permit Required — Unlike Houston.
Dallas solar permit drawings and plan sets for City of Dallas and all Dallas County AHJs. Dallas is in Oncor's ERCOT territory — same deregulated market as Houston, but Dallas requires both a building permit and an electrical permit for residential solar. Your customer also needs a solar buyback REP before the system goes live. Free for first-time clients.
Dallas Is in the Same Oncor ERCOT Market as Fort Worth. But Dallas Requires a Building Permit Alongside the Electrical Permit — and Your Customer Still Needs a Solar Buyback REP.
Installers who work both Houston and Dallas sometimes assume Dallas follows Houston's electrical-only permit process. It doesn't. Dallas Building Inspection requires both a building permit and an electrical permit for residential solar. The other constant is ERCOT: Oncor distributes electricity but doesn't buy solar exports. Your customer needs a solar buyback REP enrolled before the system goes live, or every exported kilowatt-hour earns nothing.
