HVHZ Structural Calcs Are Different From Standard Florida Wind Calcs
HVHZ structural calculations must specifically address ASCE 7 wind loads at or exceeding 170 mph and must reference HVHZ-applicable Florida Building Code sections. Standard Florida wind zone calcs used in Orlando or Jacksonville are not sufficient for Miami-Dade. A PE-stamped Miami plan set requires HVHZ-specific structural methodology that goes beyond what non-HVHZ Florida plan sets include.
